Texas gained by far the most residents from California, with 54,136 households leaving for the Lone Star State. Arizona attracted the second-highest number of Californians (32,864), followed by Nevada (30,571).

West Virginia was the least popular destination for Californians to move to, with just 534 households relocating there, followed by Delaware (574).

The wealthiest California residents left for Wyoming. From 2021 to 2022, the Equality State welcomed 1,368 households that brought an average adjusted gross income of $284,133 with them.
