With the holidays looking pricey this year (thanks, inflation), it's important to make savings where you can โ€” and no one wants to pay more than they have to on flights during the festive season.

To find out which airports are most expensive, SmartAsset used 2024 data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics to rank the 75 largest US mainland airports based on their average domestic airfare prices.

Overall, domestic flights cost the most out of Washington Dulles International. Despite the airport's average airfare falling by 6.11 percent since last year, it still stands at a costly $483.66.

Airfare prices at San Francisco International grew by 1.4 percent to $472.97 in 2024, making it the second-most expensive airport on the list. Tucson International ($456.90) takes third place.

The biggest price decrease belongs to Minneapolis-St Paul International, where the average airfare is almost 13 percent cheaper than it was in 2023. Flights out of the airport now cost $366.91, down from $421.57.
