From food costs to expensive flights home, the holidays can be pretty pricey β but your Christmas tree doesn't have to drain your wallet if you don't want it to.
To help you find the best time to buy a tree, Square analyzed data from thousands of Christmas tree sellers last year and charted the average price of trees between November 20 and December 31, 2023.
Last year, the most expensive day to buy a Christmas tree was November 23, when they cost an average of $131. Prices had dropped drastically by December 2, however, with shoppers facing the more affordable price of $102.
According to the data, Christmas trees are cheapest in the week before Christmas Day, as sellers try to shift their remaining stock. On December 17, the average tree price was just $89 β and by December 23, they cost as little as $53.
