Using data compiled by Joslyn Law Firm, Visual Capitalist mapped the number of human trafficking victims per 100,000 in each US state between 2019 and 2023.
The highest number of human trafficking victims was found in Nevada, where the figure stands at 58.5 for every 100,000 residents. In 2009, Las Vegas β the Nevada city famous for its gambling and nightlife β was identified by the FBI as one of the 14 US cities with high rates of child prostitution.
Georgia (46.6) and Mississippi (43.1) had the second- and third-most human trafficking victims per 100,000 people. Missouri (32.5) ranked fourth.
Over the five years analyzed, just one US state had fewer than 10 victims per 100,000 people: Rhode Island (8.1).
