Online wellness clinic Invigor Medical wanted to know how people's political views influence their sex lives, so they surveyed US adults of varying gender identities, sexual orientations and political affiliations on how open they'd be to pursuing a romantic relationship with someone with different political views.

Six out of 10 Americans said they would be willing to continue having sex with their partner if their political views changed. On the other hand, just 7 percent feel it's critical for sexual partners to have matching political beliefs.

Around 17 percent of heterosexual Americans are less likely to pursue relationships with someone who has opposing political views — but more than half of both Democrats and Independents and 59 percent of Republicans don't see it as a dealbreaker.

When it comes to homosexual respondents, around 37 percent of Democrats, 29 percent of Independents and less than 17 percent of Republicans are open to becoming romantically involved with people from across the divide.

In left-leaning California, a quarter of Democrats are reluctant to pursue a partner with a different political ideology, while 44 percent are open to such a relationship.

In Texas, 12 percent of Republicans are less likely to be with someone who has significantly different political beliefs. However, 15 percent of Republicans in the state said they wouldn't rule out a relationship despite political differences.

Of the several age groups surveyed, older millennials are most likely to be up for having sex with someone who has opposing political views.
