Bruce went to CBGBs (to see Suicide)
I just learned that Bruce Springsteen was a huge fan of the synth-punk band Suicide in the late 1970s and used to rock out right up at the stage at their shows in NYC. I decided to do my first weekend recording bender in a while in an effort to assimilate that unlikely factoid. [more inside]

Nerds by The Great Disappointment
This song came from a thought that had been kicking around my head for several years, but then turned into a song all at once when I stumbled across the bassline.
"When I was a kid I thought the nerds would take over and things would get better. That was half right."

Angel of Love, by The Great Disappointment
Here is a new lyric video I just posted.
This song, Angel of Love, is a satirical love song to the military industrial complex and a sardonic celebration of drone murder. And there's some sweet trumpet and Fender Rhodes.

Untitled Chiptune Suite
This is a short (just over 2 minutes) chiptune piece with three distinct moods and melodies arranged into four segments played on a Sega Master System. It's got a nice bop when required, and the melancholy section was a little bit inspired by the theme to Metroid II. [more inside]

The People's Fanfare for the New Kakistocracy (excerpt)
I am so sad, angry and confused by the recent US election result that I created this: a fitting fanfare from the people of the rest of the world. It is puerile and disgusting. [more inside]

Above is a lyric video we put together last week. This is a song from an album I recorded this summer that was supposed to be a solo project but then turned into a band.

Play Guns
Continuing my ambition of actually finishing and posting projects, here's a little love letter to the early 90s. Still has spooky themes! The drums are fine. Could have spent another year doing them properly. Lyrics in the fold. [more inside]

Quick and dirty lofi folk song. I think it has enough spooky themes to work for October. Lyrics in the fold. Kinda like the lyrics. [more inside]

woken
Still messing around with the updated rig but trying to get more involved with melodies and overall arrangement. The DX7 and the Korg Monologue are both deadly for leads/melodies and FL Studio's famous Sytrus VST came in handy to provide a last-minute pad before exporting the final mix.

Skisk Skisk Skisk
I wanted to participate in the 666th Disquiet Junto, so took by first idea and first takes to get this song done. It's built around "six" in reverse sounding like "skisk".

Caterpillar
This song, Caterpillar, is the first single from "Apocalypse Pickin' Party" by The Great Disappointment. I think the central theme/metaphor is pretty obvious.
We have also released a lyric video here.
CONTENT WARNING: there is no graphic violence shown but it sure is implied.

looptober day 3: Bergamot
Mefite aubilenon requested a loop for Bergamot, a cat of strong emotions.

looptober day 2: hrose
I asked for assignments or suggestions and for this one I chose the assignment "hrose".

looptober: closing up right at 5
Every year I try to do the looptober challenge, creating a short music loop every day in October. Day 1's track was made in jummbox, an eccentric online music tool. I probably won't try to post on mefi music very day because of the strict 24 hour waiting period, but I will post everything on mastodon and maybe also instagram (both linked from my profile).

some hero of the beach
Been trying to post more, because I have a lot of unfinished tracks and bringing semi-finished stuff to mefimu has always served me well. Please criticize. One more dirge in Em while I'm working on something more chipper. Would welcome notes on the (lyrics in description) [more inside]

Octopus in Boots
This is a song I just completed. It's about being converted into an octopus and moving into the ocean.
I played all the things on this: drums, guitars, keys, vocals, bass.
Hope you dig it.

City of Bummers
About 10 years in the writing, here's a lazy folky summer thing for you. Might add some sfx/synth. Notes always welcome. Lyrics inside. [more inside]
