A recent study by Originality.ai found that since the release of ChatGPT, fake AI-generated reviews have increased by a whopping 189 percent across 10 major airlines.

To find out which of those airlines have received the most fake AI reviews, Originality.ai scanned reviews with at least 50 words for an AI likelihood score and classified them as AI-generated or not.

China Southern Airlines has more fake reviews than any other airline analyzed, with almost 19 percent of its reviews featuring AI-generated content in 2024.

When it comes to US airlines, SouthWest has the highest AI-generated review rate (8.7 percent). However, United Airlines saw the largest surge in fake reviews between 2023 and 2024, with the rate growing by 157 percent.

For two airlines, the number of fake AI reviews declined over the year studied. RyanAir's rate fell from 11 percent to 6.4 percent, while Emirates's declined from 7.9 percent to 3.2 percent.
