As GoodGolly.MissLolly said in a comment above, I don't know the magical algorithm that brought her to me but I am completely smitten and fully grateful I have her in my life. To which I say Amen.

But I do know who brought her in my life -- my Facebook friend MeFi's own drlith, Dog Mother to the fabulous dock diving Spork and Harper. To whom I shall ever be in her debt.

And here are Carsie Blanton's Top Songs

I have been going about her to MeFi's Own Katullus for months now about how cool it was for an old guy like me to discover such a revolutionary left wing performing artist with such style and songwriting talent (the only person that came to mind for him was Utah Phillips) until he suggested I make a post about her. And so I have. I have tickets to see her tomorrow at Seattle's own Tractor Tavern and I am so stoked!

I did do a search of her name herein and found only two previous mentions by jzb and jzb, so huzzah huzzah jzb! You rock dude!

Ah, I've loved Backbone for a while now. And the dress she wears for the video is amazing.

I totally agree. I am so old and out of it as far as contemporary music is concerned but I am so blown away by her. And I love her covers. She is the best musical artist I've seen and heard in years. She really has it going on.

The algorithm pushed her to my dad a few months ago and he’s been going on and on about her ever since

Hooray! I met Carsie through dancing years ago, and she is good people. She earns her living in part via Patreon - please consider supporting her there if you can!

I came across her when she was crowdfunding the production of her album of jazz standards in 2013, interviewed her for a community radio show when she raised enough to tour internationally and came to the other side of the world in 2014, tuned into and donated during her pandemic livestreams that enabled her to keep paying her bandmates when touring wasn’t an option, wear her t-shirts to work, and continue to trickle funds via Patreon. She’s definitely good people. Thanks for the post y2karl; you’ve helped me start today smiling.

Oh, and here's something else that delights me about Carsie Blanton upon which I want to elaborate with some memories.

In 1976 I met and fell in love in Seattle with a woman who was then a psychology major doctoral student attending Tulane University and visiting her brother in Seattle. Boy, did I blow it with her though. But... all the same, she is one of my best friends to this day. She is an incredible person. I so admire, love and respect her and will do so forever.

Back then we were both in red hot limerence. She went home and I followed her to New Orleans and we drove -- well, she drove because I never learned how -- back to Seattle. I was in New Orleans for three days and just fell in love love love with the Big Easy. Those days are burned in my memory.

And when I saw Ugly Nasty Commie Bitch, I thought Shit! That's New Orleans! And it was true. Ms. Blanton has shot more than one video there. I was blown away that I instantly recognized the location -- boy, talk about The Persistence of Vision! -- and became a life long Carsie Blanton fan forever in no small part for all the memories it brought back. And now I am going to see Carsie tomorrow! I am beside myself -- I have not been this happy in years!
