House Republicans are still battling over President Donald Trump’s massive multitrillion dollar tax and border bill, which is opposed by all Democrats. The legislation includes major boosts in funding for immigration enforcement and the military as well as extends Trump's 2017 tax cuts set to expire at the end of this year, and it’s paid for by cuts to food assistance, clean energy funding and Medicaid. The president traveled to Capitol Hill Tuesday to urge Republicans to stop negotiating and pass the bill. NBC’s Garrett Haake reports for TODAY.May 21, 2025
