The team at SmartAsset wanted to know where in the US baby boomers are moving, so they ranked 267 of America's largest cities based on the share of people aged 55 to 74 who relocated to them in 2023.
Florida cities dominated the top 10 destinations for boomers. Palm Coast was the most popular city in the study, with baby boomer transplants making up 3.69 percent of its population in 2023.
Cape Coral, Florida, the second-highest-ranking spot overall, saw a rate of 3.12 percent โ and boomers also made up a considerable share of new residents in the Floridian cities of Pompano Beach (3.07 percent), Clearwater (3.00 percent), Fort Lauderdale (2.75 percent), Gainesville (2.75 percent) and Palm Bay (2.70 percent).
Third place went to Scottsdale, Arizona, where baby boomers moving into the city constituted 3.11 percent of the population.
Of the most popular destinations for baby boomers, Las Cruces, New Mexico, had the lowest median housing costs, at just $960 a month. Lakeland, Florida, followed behind, with monthly costs of around $1,205.
