The Meme

Couples on TikTok are taking turns confessing their deceitful actions in a supposedly judgement-free environment (a video shared to the entire world). As it turns out, that doesn't always work out as intended, and feelings get hurt for little more than a silly TikTok meme.

2. Just a chill guy

The Meme

"Just a Chill Guy" emerged sometime in the past few weeks, and has slowly crept into everyone's feed. It all began when a sharp little brown dog, made by @PhillipBankss back in 2023, went viral on TikTok this year for being immaculately chill. How we wish we could be him.

1. Holding space

The Meme

The promotional tour for the new "Wicked" film has been pretty consistently unhinged, with stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo getting matching tattoos, constantly holding hands and regularly dissolving into tears during interviews — but the bizarreness reached new heights in a moment that has taken over the internet over the past week.

In an interview with Out Magazine, journalist Tracy Gilchrist tells the movie's leading duo that people were "taking the lyrics of 'Defying Gravity' and really holding space with that, and feeling power in that."

Erivo immediately reacted by clutching her chest, and saying: "I didn't know that was happening ... That's really powerful, that's what I wanted. I didn't know that was happening."

There is so much to unpack from this fever dream of an interview: everyone pretending to know what "holding space" for lyrics means, Erivo's baffling reaction (she didn't write the song), Grande holding onto just one of Erivo's fingers, the interviewer revealing that her comment was based on just a couple of posts, the "I work in queer media" comment. Whew.

Every time I watch the clip I feel like an alien — and based on the jokes that have immediately followed it, everyone else is obsessed with the weirdness too.
