Italians Love A Summer Vacation. Here's Proof
Analysis of labor vacancies from the past few years shows when Europeans from around the continent prefer to take a break from work.

There is a stark difference between the paid vacation offered by employers in America and the rest of the world. In Europe, for example, employers are required to offer paid vacation minimums, which range from 20 to 25 days across the continent โ€” while in America, no such federal mandate exists.

Using Eurostat data compiled by El Confidencial, @datamelodias painted a picture of Europe's vacation habits by charting labor absences between 2015 and 2022. The pandemic years, 2020 and 2021, were excluded.

It's clear from the little red that exists on the chart that Hungary loves Christmas and the New Year, whereas you can count on folks in Italy and Cyprus โ€” the only other reddish seasons, which indicate that nearly 12 percent of the workforce is absent โ€” to take time off from work in August.

On the other end, workers in the United Kingdom, Germany, Serbia, Poland and Slovenia rarely experienced times where more than eight percent of their workforce were on vacation throughout the year.
