We all know Hollywood's biggest stars get paid a lot, but some actors have racked up some truly staggering box office earnings over the course of their careers.

Using data from The Numbers, EverPresent ranked the world's highest-grossing actors of all time, based on the total box office gross of films in which they had a leading role.

The top-ranking actor in terms of box office revenue is Samuel L. Jackson, whose 69 movies have grossed $14.6 billion in total.

Scarlett Johansson, who has made $14.5 billion across the 33 movies she has starred in, ranks second on the list and number one among women actors overall.

Of the 50 highest-grossing actors of all time, more than half (26) have a Marvel movie as their biggest box office hit.
