With several of the world's worst cities for rush hour belonging to the US, commuting is probably the least enjoyable part of many Americans' days โ but there are some spots where the journey to and from work is less of a headache.
To uncover the best US cities for commuting, ridesharing company Lyft surveyed over 1,400 commuters and analyzed both public and Lyft ride data to compare 35 of the country's cities on speed, cost, greenness and downtown vibrancy.
Using Lyft's ranking, Visual Capitalist mapped America's most commuter-friendly locations.
The best city for American commuters is Columbus, Ohio, thanks largely to its short commute time and relatively low parking costs. El Paso, Texas, and Las Vegas, Nevada, rank second- and third-best, respectively.
Drivers in Memphis, Tennessee, and Fresno, California, also enjoy some of the country's quickest commutes, while Albuquerque, New Mexico, is among the cheapest cities when it comes to parking and fuel costs.
