Why did I have to see this excellent game right before I'm supposed to be washing up for bed?

Same, this is ridiculously fun but I need to sleep!

Does that chicken…have a knife?

114 . . . must sleep . . .

Aww, you only get to rescue them once!

Like Tetris but for chickens

Hold up. I’m beginning to think these chickens aren’t randomized.

Connect 3 is the original, but I like the chickens better.

Must. Destroy. Chicken.

When can I stop? Does it go on forever

No diagonals is disappointing.

I haven't read the source but I feel certain it is actively unhelpful.

I cannot get below 271. It is definitely not random.

I finally rescued all the chickens a week ago. What works (for me!) is going very fast, getting into the flow, and not freaking out about errors or failing to optimize the layout. I just *see* the patterns better when I go fast.

It is definitely not random.

It is. You can, as noted, check the source code, which is pretty simple.

What's not random is our desire to keep options open and optimize.

Ya I’ll get right on that

Like 2048 but with static tile placement and chickens.

I like it.

Why won't it let me rotate chickens? It would make the game so much easier!

This game is insidious. It's quite hard, but just easy enough that I feel I could beat it if I figured out a strategy.

I've been enjoying trying to place 18 tiles in such a way that I get to Game Over while still having 368 chickens.

I really like this game. It flips you on your head if you’ve got some intuition built up from other games like 2048 or Tetris. The fact that nothing moves or rotates really took a while to get ingrained in my head. Forming a clump of chickens feels productive but it’s not if there’s no way to complete it.

I did finally win after shedding all prior instincts.

LOL:

The chickens are so cute!

“You rescued the 368 chickens in 0 attempts.

The chickens are very grateful.

Now you have rescued all the chickens you can no longer play the game. Sorry”

That was fun!

I rescued them all on my first attempt; thought “that wasn’t too hard” and was sad that I couldn’t play any more. Then tried it on my phone and several hours later (interspersed with doing some productive things) have only been able to rescue about half at most.
