Over the past decade of modern technology, fingerprints have been used to unlock phone locks, gate locks, and office presence; Who is the first to invent this fingerprint detection system? You may have never thought about this question. Knowing the answer is the next thing.
I am proud to say that the inventor of this fingerprint detection system is a Bengali! His name was Khan Bahadur Kazi Azizul Haque. The house is in Kasbar Paygram of Khulna district. He worked in the then Bengal Police. Many have worked with fingerprints before. But what is its practical use, how to verify it or how to identify different people's profiles with fingerprints, was first discovered by Kazi Azizul Haque of our country.
Edward Richard Henry was the IG of Bengal Police during the British rule. He hired two Bengalis to do research on fingerprints. One is mathematician Kazi Azizul Haque, the other is Hem Chandra Bose.
Kazi Azizul Haque and Hem Chandra Bose amassed a huge collection of about 6,000 fingerprints. They worked hard to come up with a mathematical formula that could be used to identify people through fingerprint verification. It was a huge discovery of modern science. The method should have been called, ‘Bose-Hawk Identification System’! But that's where the story of English dishonesty begins.
Mr. Henry, the IG of the police, started spreading the word that he had invented the fingerprint detection system. He even refused to give any recognition to Kazi Azizul Haque. He also secretly published a paper column in his own name. Then the name of the system invented by Kazi Azizul Haque of Bangladesh became 'Henry Classification System'!
Henry Classification System is now world famous. The name of this Henry classification system is being used in mobile phone touch, office, wherever fingerprint is being used to identify criminals. The sun child of my country worked, but the name is that of a dishonest British.
However, the Fingerprint Society Azizul Huque & Hemchandra Bose prize was recently launched by The Fingerprint Society of Britain. Meanwhile, the system that could have been called the Hok-Bose system remains the Henry Classification System. And our Azizul Haque has remained unknown!
