In These States, More Than 30 Percent Of People Are Working Past Retirement Age
Across the US, 22 percent of Americans are continuing to work past the retirement age — but in some states, that figure is far higher.
Using data from LendingTree, Visual Capitalist mapped the share of people aged 65 or older that are still working in each state.
There are five states where more than 30 percent of retirement-age adults are continuing to work: New Jersey (33.8 percent), North Dakota (32.3 percent), Maryland (31.2 percent), New Hampshire (30.9 percent) and Connecticut (30.3 percent).
West Virginia has the lowest share of retirement-age Americans still at work (15.7 percent), followed by Missouri (15.8 percent).
