Great news for those desperately missing their school days: an old elementary school just hit the market for under $850,000.

In the village of Cascade, Wiconsin, just minutes from Lake Ellen, the converted property sits on more than 18.4 acres of land. Built in 1964, the former school is now a 17,208-square-foot home.

Inside, the corridors are unchanged from their school days. They might be light-filled and bright in the daytime, but I'd be less keen to walk down them at night.

Given that the rooms were originally designed to accommodate 30-odd students, they make for pretty massive (perhaps too massive?) bedrooms and living spaces.

Some of the bathrooms are more appealing than others, but the gross, vaguely unsettling atmosphere of a school toilet persists in them all.

In addition to all the space the school building provides, there's a large, heated garage with a stage and basketball hoops.

Finally, somewhere to host those karaoke-basketball events you've been dreaming of.

It's not a traditional home, that's for sure, but 510 Lake Street has a lot to offer for the very reasonable sum of $849,900.

Why not use it as an immigrant shelter, and for the homeless?

You should totally buy this place and turn it into a homeless shelter. My best guess though is that you are a talker and not a doer. Most people whose first suggestion is to give away value rather than to actually provide ways for people to work help and create more value for themselves and maintain value tend to be kind of losers themselves. It’s nice to be kind-hearted but it’s not worth very much being stupid and kind-hearted, which doesn’t contribute much to the world. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Why not use YOUR home for the homeless?
