Seven Times People Realized They Were Dating A Complete Fool
Being alone is sounding pretty nice again.

Being in love is great until you realize their pretty face was just a distraction from a whole lot of stupid. It sucks, but until dating profiles get an AI-upgrade, we're all looking at a lot of empty coffee dates and regretful late-night texts.

Reddit user u/post-nutclarence is here for all of our sloppy drama though, and asked the internet to spill about when they realized their baby was a baboon. With almost 7,000 comments in just a few days, at least we can all take solace in the fact that dating sucks for pretty much everyone.

Oh, I win this one. I was driving through Stone Mountain GA with my girlfriend, who was absolutely the nicest person I've ever known. We passed a chain gang working in the ditch beside the road. The prisoners were all black, wearing black and white striped jail uniforms, and chained together at the ankle. The guards were white, standing over them with shotguns. I swear to God she asked if they were slaves. I said "Sure, want me to buy you one? We'll have to turn him loose when we cross back over the Mason Dixon line". I should have married that girl.

Prisoners in the US *are* slaves. The 13th Amendment:

"Neither *slavery* nor involuntary servitude, *except as a punishment for crime* whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

We enslave people in America thanks to our draconian drug policies (these laws are used to imprison target Black folk disproportionately), then use their labor for everything from ditch-digging to factory work.

It's not an accident it worked out that way. It's by design.
