Texas is among the most popular states for America's high-earners to move to, but where in the country do most of the Lone Star state's new residents come from?
Using IRS data for the 2021 and 2022 tax years, SmartAsset ranked the US states based on the number of individuals and households moving to and from Texas.
More people came to Texas from California than anywhere else in the US β 54,136 households, or 106,882 Californians. Floridians made up the second-largest influx, with 22,277 households (38,873 people) moving to the state over the same period.
Louisiana added the third-highest number of households to Texas (16,310) β but when it comes to net gains, the state ranks second overall, having gained just 6,677 Texan households itself.
