Every day, somebody says or does something that earns them the scorn of the internet. Here at Digg, as part of our mission to curate what the internet is talking about right now, we rounded up the main characters on X from this past week and held them accountable for their actions.

This week, we've got a disgraced celebrity flogging "magic amulets," discourse about bringing "plus ones" to events and reactions to a Taylor swift speech.

Sunday

@jessicobra

The character: @jessicobra, X user, outrage merchant

The plot: On Sunday, X user @jessicobra posted: "We need to talk about how giving people a 'plus one' for events is lowkey polyphobic."

The repercussion: This tweet is almost certainly bait aimed at riling up the website's most easily annoyed members — and that's exactly what it did.

Saturday

Taylor swift

The character: Taylor swift, world-famous singer, polarizing person

The plot: Taylor swift is exceedingly popular and influential, but that doesn't stop her from feeling constantly attacked. During a Billboard Women In Music event, T-swift gave a slightly whiny speech about how she keeps being criticized regardless of the personal and professional decisions she makes.

The repercussion: While it's always hard to feel too bad for the ultra-rich, the response to her speech definitely has some gross undertones. And, the "pick me" allegation doesn't even really make sense, so let's not go too deep on the backlash here. After all, the swifties will come for us all if we're too loud about it.

Tuesday

Russell Brand

The character: Russell Brand, alleged sexual abuser, newly converted Christian

The plot: Actor and all-round loser Russell Brand's (totally sincere, not at all disingenuous) pivot to Christianity continues to provide utterly ridiculous content online — and while we can't include him in our Main Character roundup every week, his new grift is simply too good not to share.

As seen in a promotional video recently shared to X, Brand is now flogging a "magical amulet," costing almost $240, that he claims protects you from "evil energies" like... WiFi.

The repercussion: Unsurprisingly, no one had any time for Brand's totally shameless cash-grab. Anyone know if there's a magic device that protects us from seeing his face on our feeds?
