From rent to auto loans, how much the average American spends each month very much depends on where in the country they live.
To show how the cost of living varies across the Us, Doxo analyzed the average monthly household spending on 10 common bills in the country's 50 largest cities. Using this data, Visual Capitalist ranked the 25 most affordable big cities in America.
Of the cities studied, living is cheapest in Detroit, Michigan, where an average of just $1,640 a month is spent per household. Low bills are just one part of the picture, though; while the city's monthly spend is the lowest overall, it eats into more than half of the average Detroit household's income.
Households in Fort Worth, Texas, face the highest monthly costs in the ranking, at an average of $2,249. Unlike those living in Detroit, however, Forth Worthians spend just 37 percent of their monthly income on covering the bills.
