Across the US, the average mobile data speed is roughly 107.87 MB/s (megabytes per second), which is more than fast enough to stream TV shows, play video games and do most of the other things people use the internet for.

In many of the country's top tourist spots, however, visitors might not even manage to load directions on Google.

To uncover the American landmarks and attractions with the worst mobile internet, Holafly found the ZIP codes of thousands of US tourist destinations, then calculated the average download speed across the top three service providers in each location. Data is accurate as of November 2024.

People visiting Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park face the slowest internet connection of any tourist spot in the country, with the average download speed reaching a measly 1.7 MB/s.

Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument (2.8 MB/s) in New Mexico has the second-worst internet speed overall, followed by Tuckaleechee Caverns (Six MB/s) in Tennessee.

In addition to having the poorest mobile internet overall, Yellowstone National Park is also home to the worst-served natural wonder. At the park's Old Faithful Geyser, the average download speed is just 1.7 MB/s.

When it comes to US theme parks, the worst internet connection is found at Missouri's Silver Dollar City, where the speed averages at 17.6 MB/s.

Radical idea. Leave your phone in your pocket and enjoy the scenery with your actual eyes and brain. What an idea!
