oh man, this is going right on my watchlist. Red Dwarf is etched deep into my DNA so definitely looking forward to nerding out on esoteric theories.

My Red Dwarf activities had previously been limited to whatever was on late-night PBS reruns of the BBC when I was a kid in the early ’90s, so I'd only seen up to Series 6. Recently I (1) heard about the upcoming new series and (2) discovered all the old stuff was on BritBox, so bought a subscription and watched the entire run over the course of a month or so. I'm not sure I've ever troubled to have any fan theories about it, but it was a lot of fun to watch the actors over 32 years.

I certainly didn't expect to get so emotional over

Spoilers

1. original Holly coming back and
2. the stirring sounds of the theme when Red Dwarf itself re-appears.

(I understand how real life could easily mean that we didn't get original Holly for a while, but why did they get rid of Red Dwarf?)

I only managed to watch the older episodes intermittently but I thought the answer was they were trapped in a video game for years but never managed to get past Level 1 and so they missed the Planet of the Nymphomaniacs.
