The eight universities that make up the Ivy League β Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth College, Harvard, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale β are as renowned for their highly selective admissions and costliness as they are for their academic excellence.
But just how tricky is it to get into an Ivy League school?
Using 24/7 Wall St's analysis, Visual Capitalist charted the admission rate, median SAT score for reading, writing and maths and the average annual cost for each of the Ivy League universities. Note: "average annual cost" represents the net fee a student pays after subtracting the average value of grants and/or scholarships received.
While Cornell University is the second-priciest school, at $29,000 a year, its 7.5 percent admission rate is the highest on the list.
In contrast, while Harvard University accepts just 3.2 percent of applicants, the lowest rate of any Ivy League school, it's among the less expensive universities, with an average annual cost of $13,200.
