Here's Where Americans Are Paying The Most For Gas
Gasoline prices are below-average in most US states โ€” but not all.

Nationwide, regular gasoline costs an average of $3.07 per gallon. In some regions, though, Americans are facing considerably higher prices.

Using figures from the American Automobile Association, Visual Capitalist mapped the average price of a gallon of regular, unleaded gas in each US state. Data is accurate as of November 2024.

People spend the most on gas in Hawaii, where it costs an average of $4.57 per gallon. It's similarly pricey in California ($4.46), Washington ($3.99), Nevada ($3.74) and Oregon ($3.54).

Despite these high costs, gas is actually cheaper than the national average in most states, with Oklahoma offering the lowest per-gallon price overall ($2.57).

For many of the Plains states, it's misleading to use their "Regular" for comparison to other states. It's 85 octane, instead of 87, which isn't usable in many cars, so you have to pay for "Mid-grade" to avoid pinging and performance problems. And their mid-grade tends to be 50-cents or more expensive.

Boggles my mind that conservative losers in red states cry so vehemently about gas prices when they have the cheapest gas.

To be clear, California has the highest prices because it requires more strict refinement procedures, which result in less air pollution.

Over/under on conservative tears stopping while Trump is president, even if gas prices increase?
