Thanks to some dedicated research based on a YouTuber's detailed video, there's now a (somewhat) definitive answer as to whether or not Chipotle is giving us less food when we order online.

It turns out, what we all suspected is true: the restaurant does, in fact, give us less food when we order online instead of going in person.

When Zackary Smigel did his own "Super Size Me" experiment, a one-month ordeal in which he only ate Chipotle, he found that there was definitely less food in the bag whenever he ordered online. Smigel provided a spreadsheet of his visits, and that information has been fleshed out by PhD-haver and data enthusiast Gio Circo, with some pretty interesting analysis.

The graph below, showing the difference in food weight and density for online and in-person orders, is based on Smigel's data and was shared by Circo. Overall, it looks like online orders come with roughly 20 percent less food, which Circo said matched other people's experience.
