I'd like to take a moment to remind everyone of our first commenting rule:

Read the post before you reply.

Read the posted content, understand and identify the philosophical arguments given, and respond to these substantively. If you have unrelated thoughts or don't wish to read the content, please post your own thread or simply refrain from commenting. Comments which are clearly not in direct response to the posted content may be removed.

This sub is not in the business of one-liners, tangential anecdotes, or dank memes. Expect comment threads that break our rules to be removed.

I am an engineer with philosophy and business degrees. My philosophy background has helped me to better understand what I do and why I do it. The risk is that your non-philosophical colleagues cannot understand what the point is. Unfortunately, logic does not always convince people. In business, politics and rhetorical strategies are just as important.

I have a philosophy degree and I work in IT. I deal with this on the regular. Feel your pain!

How can one not excel at life and work in general without a personal POS (Philosophy Operating System)? 99.99% I've encountered and asked, don't know the difference between Humanism vs. Pragmatism. Seems like Pragmatism has won out.
