The Small Arms Survey is a Switzerland-based independent research project that provides information on small arms and armed violence for governments, policy-makers, researchers and activists. The project tracks, among other things, the number of firearms held by civilians globally.
Using the most recent data available, from 2017, Reddit user geo_ranking mapped the estimated number of privately owned guns for every 100 citizens in countries across the globe.
The US has by far the most civilian firearms per 100 people, with around 120. Following behind is Yemen, with 62 privately owned guns for every 100 people.
